  • Santa Dash - Leamington Spa

Taking place on Sunday 10th December at the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa, this event is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit. So whether you need an excuse to keep up with exercise as the weather gets colder and the nights draw in, or if you want to do something fun for charity before Christmas, this could be the event for you! Participants will take on a 5k run, jog or walk around the Pump Room Gardens and Victoria Park.

We are hoping to raise £35,000 from the Santa Dash this year, which would fund the recruitment, training and salary of a nurse for one year.

The full price of an adult ticket is £15 but if you sign up today you will receive our £5 early bird discount making the total price £10. Each adult will receive a free santa suit! Act quick as our early bird offer ends 31st October 2017, 8:00pm.

The Pump Room Gardens will be filled with festive music and refreshments, as well as Anna and Elsa from Frozen to keep the kids entertained!

  • FAQs

    Check in:

Check in on the day is from 8am for people running at 9am, and from 9am for those setting off walking or jogging at 10am.

Check in will be clearly signposted and located in the Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum in the Pump Room Gardens. When you check in please let us know how much sponsorship money you have raised so far; this will help us estimate how much the event has raised in total.

    Pre check-in:

This year you will have the option to check-in in advance to collect your Santa suit and/or elf suit.

Pre check-in will be at our Warwick Hospice (Myton Lane, off Myton Road, Warwick, CV34 6PX) on Saturday 25th November from 10am to 1pm. You don’t need to bring anything with you, just give your details and the details of anyone else whose pack you might be collecting on their behalf.

Please note: if you check-in in advance you won’t need to do so on the day itself (which means at least another 15 minutes in bed!)

    Location

We ask that all our Santas and elves gather at the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa (CV32 4AA). If you have never seen hundreds of Santas gathered like this before you are in for quite a treat!

    Route

Starting at the Pump Room Gardens, Santas and elves will complete two laps of Victoria Park before returning to the Pump Room Gardens. There will be clear signage throughout the route and there will be plenty of volunteer marshals to direct you and cheer you on!

    Parking

There are plenty of parking facilities in Leamington Spa which are just a short walk away from the Pump Room Gardens:

St Peters multi-storey CV32 5EL (access via Augusta Place)

    Covent Garden multi-storey CV32 5QB
  •

    Royal Priors multi-storey CV32 4XT

Please note that there will be temporary road closures along The Parade due to the event and the Christmas market. See more parking options and charges at www.warwickdc.gov.uk/info/20546/leamington_car_parks

    The Suits

All Santa suits are one size fits all and include adjustable trousers, a jacket and even a beard (so you don’t need to grow your own!) Please bring your own belt and make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothes underneath to keep you warm.

As we all know Santa couldn’t get ready for Christmas without his elves so children taking part in the dash will receive elf suits.

    Facilities

There will be portable toilets located in the Pump Room Gardens as well as toilets and changing facilities available in the Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum.

    First Aid

If you are feeling unwell or need first aid please call the events team mobile: 07599 752835. Warwickshire Ambulance Association will be on hand to deal with any incidents.

Please be aware that as the event is held in winter the weather conditions are likely to be more adverse, so please take care along the route and make sure you wear suitable footwear.

    Dogs

It is no secret that we love dogs here at Myton! We would like to welcome all well-behaved dogs to this year’s event, but please bear in mind that the event will be very busy and there will be lots of other dogs on site.

    Refreshments

We always like to make sure that our supporters are well fed when taking part in our events so there will be tasty bacon or sausage sandwiches available to buy throughout the event as well as a range of hot and cold drinks to keep you hydrated before and afterwards!

    Facebook and Twitter

Keep up to date with all the latest news about this year’s event by joining our official Santa Dash Facebook event page. You can share the event and posts to encourage others to take part too! It’s not often you get the chance to run, walk or jog around Leamington Spa dressed as Santa!
  • Your fundraising

This year we are hoping to raise £35,000! This would fund the recruitment, training and salary of a nurse for one year. We know this is a huge amount of money to raise but with your help and support we know we can do it!

The money you raise keeps our hospices running; it means we can employ dedicated and caring nurses, doctors and counsellors. Our work centres on patient wellbeing and involving them in decisions about their care. Perhaps most importantly we give our patients more quality time with their loved ones.

Why your support and sponsorship is SO important

Ken Liddle and family The Myton Hospices

    Ken’s Story:

At first glance they looked like any other family enjoying Christmas morning but for Myton patient Ken Liddle the occasion was tinged with sadness. The 34-year-old treasured every second as he watched his five year-old daughter Reme and two year-old son Oliver playing on their new bicycles as he knew this was the last Christmas they would spend together.

Ken suffered from Motor Neurone Disease and had been diagnosed just a year earlier. Staff at our Coventry Hospice pulled out all the stops to give Ken and his family a magical day. His wife Annette said: “It was such a special day and the nurses went the extra mile to give us a Christmas to remember, they couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived early and stayed the whole day; we opened our presents, ate Christmas dinner together as a family and the children were able to enjoy trying out their presents which included new bikes!”

Ken died the following June and our Myton team helped him fulfil many of his final wishes including having his son baptised at Myton so that he could be there.

Annette added: “We will always be grateful for all the love and care we received and I know Ken would be too. We are so glad we were all able to spend his last Christmas together and the memories will stay with us forever."

None of the work we do is possible without people like you, and with your support we are able to make a difference to more people like Ken and his family when they need us most.
