Ethan is putting on a performance on The Wizard of Oz to raise money for Warwick Myton Hospice. He and his younger sister Emily, who is taking on the role of Toto the dog, have been making tickets and invitations to give to family and friends, as well as all the costumes and backdrop with the help of their mum Caroline. Three of Ethan’s friends will play Dorothy, Lion and Scarecrow, and two members of Playbox will take on the roles of Glinda the Good Witch of the North and the Wicked Witch of the West. Playbox Theatre, where Ethan and Emily are both members, has kindly let Ethan use one of their rooms to stage his production.
How old are you and what school do you go to?
I’m six and go to Newburgh School.
Do you have a favourite subject at school?
It’s a new topic which we just got – it’s about the summer holidays. I’m going to do more Myton events in the summer.
What’s your favourite sport?
I like them all.
Do you have a favourite hobby?
I like to do shows. We’ve got a stage in our playroom I use.
Why did you decide to fundraise for Myton?
Because a lady came into my school and talked about it. She told us a bit about what it is. I wanted to help because that’s a nice thing to do when you care about other people.
What are you doing to raise money for Myton?
We’re going to do a show called The Wizard of Oz at Playbox Theatre. I’m going to be Tin Man.
How have you prepared for the show?
I’ve been practicing my lines and we’re going to sing Follow the Yellow Brick Road and Somewhere Over The Rainbow. We’ve got lots of raffle prizes too from Warwick Castle, Tenpin Bowling and Jump In. My Headmaster from school is coming to watch!
How can you get involved?
There are many ways you can support The Myton Hospices if you are feeling inspired by Ethan. This could be by leaving a donation, joining one of our events or even hosting your own event in aid of our 35th birthday. For more information please click here
