The Myton Hospices has joined national charity Hospice UK and hospices from across the country to promote how important the care they provide is and reach more people!

The Open Up Hospice Care campaign – which runs from 4th to 29th March 2019 – highlights how hospice care is available beyond hospice inpatient units, including in people's homes and the community.

We want more people to have access to hospice care and we need your help! You could:

  • Or even host a Taste of Home dinner party to raise money!

What is a Taste of Home dinner party?

This simple event encourages you to make a memorable meal to share with family and friends in exchange for a donation.

Most of us will agree that food comes attached to special memories. And by sharing that food with loved ones, we can share and grow those memories (and help more people get hospice care at the same time!).

Our CEO Ruth Freeman said:

If you have experienced Myton's care either directly or through a friend or family member, you will know the difference our support makes. But around a quarter of people in the UK who could benefit from hospice services don’t access them. This is due to a range of reasons including late or a lack of referrals to hospice services and low levels of awareness about hospice care and where and when this support is available.

We want to help as many people as we can with terminal and life limiting illnesses to live well and independently for as long as possible, as well as allowing them to be comfortable during their last days either in their own home or on one of our Inpatient Units. I hope our local community and policymakers will get involved with the Open Up Hospice Care campaign and be part of the change towards a better understanding of hospices, and increased access to their services.
