A few words from Robbie, who is a Toy Poodle and helps out at our Warwick Myton Hospice reception!

Hello! My name is Robbie and I am a Toy Poodle. I have been a volunteer at The Myton Hospices with my human, Sally, for the last four years. I’m four and a half years old so I’ve been helping at Myton most of my life! Lots of people here have seen me grow from a very small puppy who could fit in the palm of your hand, to the handsome, fluffy dog I am today – I’m still quite small though!

What Robbie and Sally do…

Sally and I come to Warwick Myton Hospice every other Wednesday to help out on the reception in the afternoon. We also help out on reception when other volunteers can’t.

Sally was a Day Hospice patient at Warwick Myton Hospice a few years ago and when she was feeling better she decided she wanted to give something back to Myton. She signed up to help lovely receptionist Vicky, and the rest as they say is history!

What does Robbie do to say thank you…

I can be quite shy, but I enjoy all the fuss people at Myton give me – I love having my head and back scratched and will often lick people’s hands to say thank you for the attention! If I’m feeling extra generous I will give people a kiss on the nose.

Although I’m not a Pets As Therapy dog, I like to cuddle people who may be visiting friends or family on the Inpatient Unit. I give great cuddles and like to think I cheer people up if they’re upset.

Robbie loves to wear a…

Myton is like a second home to me; I make myself comfortable on reception and the staff, volunteers and visitors say ‘hello’ to me as they pass. I can always be found wearing my Myton bandana while I’m volunteering and am proud in the knowledge that I brighten people’s day.
