The picnic was part of a bear-themed week already planned at the nursery, but when organiser Laurie Hogan discovered Myton was encouraging people to hold an event in aid of the local charity, she signed up right away.
Throughout the Bear Week at Twinkle Twinkle...
the children learnt all about bears, made chocolate playdough bears, coloured in a Myton Mascot Monty Bear, read bear stories, including the famous We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – with the Myton Teddy Bear’s Picnic at the heart of the celebrations.
For the picnic itself, nine delighted children took part, making their own sandwiches which they cut into bear shapes and learnt how to safely cut fruit.
They then wrapped up their sandwiches and put them into their own teddy bear’s picnic box with some teddy bear crisps.
Laurie said:
It was a lovely day and the children had the best time, sat on blankets in the garden with lots of smiley faces and giggles.
We already had a bear-themed week planned, but when we discovered Myton had a special Teddy Bear’s Picnic pack, we jumped at the chance.
I know just how special Myton is and was delighted to be able to give something back to such a wonderful charity – and an amazing time was had by all.
