The Myton Hospices recently welcomed members of the Omega Course to our Warwick Myton Hospice

The Myton Hospices recently welcomed members of the Omega Course to our Warwick Myton Hospice for a special Talk & Tour session, helping to encourage open conversations around death, dying and the support available within our community.

The Omega Course is designed to create a safe and supportive space for healthy people to learn more about death, dying and bereavement – topics that can often feel difficult to talk about, but are so important for individuals and families. On the course, attendees also learn listening and communication skills that give confidence to remain in contact with family, friends and neighbours at difficult times.

During the hour-and-a-half session, attendees heard from Myton’s Community Engagement Manager and Registered Nurse, Olivia Bowskill, alongside Communications Officer, Laura Dadson, who delivered a presentation covering the wide range of services Myton provides, who we support, and how we help people living with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones across Coventry and Warwickshire. The Talk & Tour highlighted the many ways Myton supports people from the earliest stage of their illness, right from diagnosis, helping to improve wellbeing and quality of life throughout their journey.

The group also enjoyed a guided tour of Warwick Myton Hospice, including our wellbeing areas, inpatient unit, and wonderful family accommodation; giving them the opportunity to learn more about the compassionate care and support available through Myton.

As part of our commitment to education and community engagement, opportunities like these help raise awareness of hospice care, challenge misconceptions, and encourage important conversations about end-of-life care and support.

Olivia Bowskill said:

It was a pleasure to welcome such a wonderful group of people to Warwick Myton Hospice and to have the opportunity to share more about the work we do at Myton. Having open and honest conversations around death and dying is so important, and we were delighted to be able to talk about how Myton can support patients and their loved ones through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Chantal Meystre at The Omega Course said:

We were grateful to be able to tour the hospice, taking the fear out of crossing the threshold which helped our course members to amplify what they had learned.  When people come to The Omega Course, they are often fearful of what the future may hold.  We encourage them to think and plan for their own future so they have knowledge to share with others. Demystifying hospice care was a great opportunity both for themselves, but also to see what others, further along their life’s journey, were experiencing.
