Indi’s Story

Imagine being in your early 40s and being told you have cancer for the second time, after beating it once already in your 30s.

Imagine being told you have a few years at most left to live and having to tell your family.

Imagine getting so ill you get moved to a hospice, knowing you’ll never get to go home again.

Now imagine that hospice looks after you so well it feels almost like a second home; thanks to the incredible, warm, loving staff, and the support they give to you and your family. They help guide you through the worst time of your lives.

Camille Gill and her family will never forget the difference Myton made when her mum Indi was admitted to Coventry Myton Hospice.

While receiving end of life care at Myton, Indi was inspired by her family’s love of all things wizard-like and decided to throw a Harry Potter-themed party.

She was determined to give husband Pali, and their children Camille, Rajan and Riarn something extra special to remember her by. A magician even performed a series of tricks for the family!

Indi wanted to give her children a special gift too, and at the end of his act, the magician handed a small package to each of the children which contained a specially crafted crystal wand for each of them to treasure.

Camille added:

I can’t begin to imagine how much worse things would have been without Myton. My mum, my family and I did not expect our experience of Myton to be one that we could take happy memories away from, but we were able to do this thanks to the amazing environment they create every day.

It is the special Myton touches like this which make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and their familes and friends, and can make the worst time imaginable that little bit more manageable.
