The Myton Hospices shortlisted for two national awards for pioneering GP Information Clinics

We are thrilled to announce that The Myton Hospices has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories at this year’s Palliative and End of Life Care Awards: The Partnership Working Across Health & Social Care Award and The Innovation in End-of-Life Social Care Award.

Both categories recognise Myton’s GP Information Clinics – an initiative bringing specialist palliative care directly into GP practices to support people earlier and closer to home.

Our clinics offer patients personalised information, advice and emotional support at the right time and in the right place for them. By meeting people within familiar primary care settings, we are helping to break down common barriers and misconceptions about hospice care and ensuring that more people with life-limiting illnesses can access the right support earlier in their journey.

Developed in close partnership with Primary Care Networks, the clinics help to streamline referral pathways and strengthen understanding of hospice services among healthcare professionals. This collaboration ensures GPs are better supported to identify patients who may benefit from palliative care and to refer them with confidence.

Importantly, the clinics also provide reassurance for patients and carers, helping them feel more informed and empowered when making decisions about their care. By building trust and improving awareness, we are supporting more timely access to compassionate, specialist support – ultimately improving end of life care outcomes.

Being shortlisted in both categories is a significant recognition of the strength of our partnership working and the innovative approach we are taking to reach people living with a life-limiting illness earlier.

Olivia Bowskill, Community Engagement Manager and Registered Nurse at The Myton Hospices, said:

We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for these national awards. Our GP Information Clinics represent a really important shift in how we deliver palliative care, taking specialist care directly into GP practices so people can access the right support at the right time.

To see this work recognised on a national stage reflects the strength of our collaboration with Primary Care Networks and our shared commitment to improving experiences and outcomes for patients and families.

The GP Information Clinics have previously received national recognition, winning the Innovator in Care Award at the Hospice UK Awards.

We are incredibly proud of everyone involved in developing and delivering the GP Information Clinics, and grateful to our GP partners for their continued collaboration and commitment.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 2nd July
