Elizabeth Skelton and her family raised over £12,000 for The Myton Hospices in just 10 months!

Elizabeth’s mum, Karen, died at Coventry Myton Hospice in March 2017 after doctors found tumours on her brain.

She spent 12 days on the Inpatient Unit where friends and family visited regularly.

Since then Elizabeth, her dad Adrian, brother Jamie and their family have been working tirelessly to hit their £12,000 target. From holding quizzes, hosting an afternoon tea and even creating seasonal salt dough decorations to sell, to holding bake sales at The University of Leicester, where Elizabeth is a student, there isn’t much that Team Skelton haven’t done to raise money for Myton!

The family took part in Walk for Myton and Glow in the Moonlight last year, and Adrian and Jamie even entered a team in our annual Golf Day in September.

They went on to be the winning team of the day!

I added up everything from the cost of a patient bed for a day, to the cost of 24 hours of nursing and it came to £1,000. She was at Myton for 12 days so £12,000 became our target.

She was my best friend, we did everything together and she knew everything about me. We used to spend every minute together. She is the most amazing woman I have ever encountered and she has already missed so much - my 19th birthday which was incredibly difficult, Christmas and me finishing my first year at university.

She was the best, most understanding and loving person as well as absolutely hilarious and knowledgeable – it was like she swallowed a dictionary as well as a recipe book, crochet book, she made all the curtains - there was nothing she could not do. 52 is no age to lose your life to such an awful disease.

Thank you...

From everyone at Myton, to Elizabeth, Adrian, Jamie and everyone who has helped and supported them to raise such a fantastic amount of money!
