Hospice Care Week is a chance to celebrate hospice care locally and nationwide, recognising the incredible work being done to make sure everyone can benefit from the very best palliative and end of life care.

Taking place from 9^th – 15^th October, this week encourages communities across the country to come together and learn more about hospice care.

At The Myton Hospices we believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life, we focus on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option; supporting people living with a life-limiting illness, and their families, right from the point of diagnosis to end of life.

This year’s theme is ‘We are Hospice Care!’ and we will be sharing the stories of four of our amazing staff and volunteers.

From their professional career journeys to their very personal experiences of hospice care, we hope these stories will highlight some of the incredible people behind Myton.

We also hope to show that a hospice is not just a place for dying, but for living well with a life-limiting illness.

Through Calley’s story you will hear about the activities Inpatient and Respite patients are able to undertake during their time at Myton.

Karen’s story will tell you of the wide variety of people supported by our Lymphoedema clinic, and Surjit’s story will inform you of the care we take in ensuring patients wishes are noted to help them to have a “good death” when the time comes.

Finally, Clare’s story highlights the deeply personal connection many of our staff and volunteers have with hospice care.

To mark Hospice Care Week we are also hosting ‘Talk and Tour’ events at our three hospices in Coventry, Warwick and Rugby to showcase everything we do, enable our community to find out more about the services and environment we offer, and to learn how we may be able to support you and your loved ones, now or in the future.

Our Community Engagement Manager and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer will be giving a presentation about Myton and there will be a chance to tour the hospices and ask any questions you may have.
