Taking Wellbeing to New Heights with Mind Over Mountains

Recently 16 team members from across The Myton Hospices swapped their desks and work stations for hiking boots as they took to the stunning Malvern Hills for a wellbeing walk with the charity Mind Over Mountains.

Thanks to a thoughtful nomination from Bethan Wiggett, our People, Resourcing and Reward Officer, Myton was lucky to win a fully-funded, bespoke walk designed to support mental health in a refreshing and restorative way. Delivered by qualified Mountain and Hill Leaders, the experience was a scenic hike wrapped in a great opportunity to press pause and focus on personal wellbeing.

The walk was curated to include time for mindfulness, individual coaching and counselling, and meaningful conversations, all guided by the Mind Over Mountains Wellbeing Team, made up of trained counsellors and coaches. It offered a safe space to reflect, connect, and simply be present in nature.

At The Myton Hospices we recognise the importance of staff wellbeing and the value of supporting our teams to make time for self-care, we know this can be particularly imperative when working in a healthcare setting.

Tom Marston, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, said:

Taking part in the Mind Over Mountains Walk was such an uplifting experience. It reminded me how valuable it is to step away from our usual routines and take time for our mental wellbeing. It’s something we should all make more time for when we can. We are truly grateful to Mind Over Mountains for enabling us to offer this opportunity to our staff.

Ian Sansbury, CEO, Mind Over Mountains, said:

Watching the Myton team relax and recharge in nature reminded us why this work matters. It’s a gift to support those who care so deeply for others.

With moments of mindful reflection and breath-taking views, the experience left a lasting impact on our team. A huge thank you to Mind Over Mountains for such a meaningful day, and to Bethan for making it happen!
