My name is Claire McDowell and I am a Community Fundraiser who covers areas of Coventry and North Warwickshire.

I have worked for The Myton Hospices since 2001 as a fundraiser doing a wide variety of different challenges daily. I got involved with fundraising initially after losing my dad after he was diagnosed with cancer and sadly died within six weeks. He spent his last three days at Myton in Warwick and the care he and we as a family received we will never forget and this spurred me on to start organising my own events to try and help support the next person who needed the wonderful care we had experienced.

After fundraising for three years doing lots of different things such as charity nights, sponsored events and raffles a job came up in fundraising and I felt it was what I was meant to do.

In fundraising no day is ever the same, you meet some amazing people who are facing such a difficult time in their lives and you feel privileged to work at such a great place and feel so lucky to have such  job satisfaction knowing what a difference the fundraising team make.

My favourite past times are spending time with my family and friends and I love to go swimming early in the morning to gather my thoughts for the day.
