The Myton Hospices Syringe Pump Training is a half day skills-based course for registered nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
The content of the workshop will include;
- The clinical indications for using a syringe pump – exploring the feras and anxieties associated with syringe pumps
- Symptom control using medications via a syringe pump
- Commonly used syringe pump medications and rationale for use
- Appropriate doses of medications for symptom control and conversion calculations
- Using the T34 syringe pump, a practical skills-based session
- Identifying red flags and trouble shooting
- Case study workshop – applying knowledge gained to practice, through case study scenarios, enabling participants to have confident discussions with patients, their families and carers, when commencing syringe pumps
A syringe pump policy or guideline is required in the participant’s own workplace.
Documents will be provided to enable the verification of the participant’s competency within their own workplace.
