Moving and Handling of People Training

At The Myton Hospices, we believe that mandatory training creates a solid foundation for building core care skills and the development of learning.

Sarah Monahan, our Clinical Mandatory Trainer, has a wealth of experience of working alongside people with complex care needs, across a variety of health and social care settings.

The Moving and Handling of People full day course, includes both the theory and practice of Moving and Handling of People.

The training will equip participants with the specialist knowledge and practical skills to keep staff and service users safe and comfortable before, throughout and after any assisted movement.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and explain the reasons behind managing risks when moving and handling people
  • Outline the legislation relating to safe handling of people
  • Demonstrate knowledge and apply the principles of risk assessment in safer people handling and falls management
  • Explain the function of the spine and risk factors for possible injuries caused by unsafe handling
  • Demonstrate efficient movement principles throughout a range of safe people handling tasks, this will include safe hoisting principles and practice and a range of slide sheet techniques

Participants will be awarded a certificate of achievement on completion of the course.
