Dementia at End of Life

This one-day training course has been designed to give healthcare professionals, social care providers and care home staff the knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver high-quality, person-centred end of life care for people with dementia.

Through expert-led teaching, you will gain a greater understanding of the unique challenges people with dementia can face at the end of life and learn how to recognise, asses and respond to their changing needs.

Programme Content

By attending this course, you will:

  • Understand the barriers people with dementia can face in accessing high-quality palliative and end of life care
  • Recognise deterioration in people living with dementia and understand when palliative care may be appropriate
  • Identify the common signs and symptoms associated with the final stages of life and dying
  • Develop practical approaches to managing end of life symptoms effectively and compassionately
  • Learn about local services, resources and support available to help people with dementia and those important to them

Course Details

This is a one-day, interactive training course delivered by experienced palliative care professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn through a combination of teaching, discussion and shared experiences, helping them apply their learning in practice.
